About the Garden

Set across the undulating hills of Mirik Valley, Okayti rises between 4,000 and 6,200 feet, where mist, cool mountain air and fertile soils shape its distinctive teas. Planted in the early 1870s, the estate was originally known as Rangdoo and remains home to one of Darjeeling’s oldest working tea factories, built in 1888. Its remarkable history gave rise to its name: teas became so popular at London auctions that they were celebrated as “the only OKAY tea.” Today, Okayti continues its organic, single-estate tradition with carefully crafted teas for generations.
